Reach Out Get a Move On, whilst you get your groove on!

Since mid-March, Reach Out To The Community, along with many other Chorlton establishments, has been closed. Despite our staff working endlessly behind the scenes, helping the homeless and vulnerable people within the community, we have really missed our doors being open to anyone and everyone – from our regular visitors and supporters coming to chat about our existing projects, people making donations or customers popping in for a good rummage to find some great bargains.

Last weekend was an exciting occasion for the ROC staff and the local residents of South Manchester, as we opened up the shop front for an exclusive record sale. We received a generous donation of  hundreds of 12” vinyl by the one and only Mr Scruff, including a wide selection of House, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Trip Hop, Breaks and much more.

Music producer and DJ Mr Scruff (https://soundcloud.com/mr-scruff), has been a great supporter of Reach Out To The Community and raising awareness of homelessness in the Manchester area for many years, with regular donations and fundraising events.

We were over the moon that just opening for a few hours on a rainy Sunday afternoon for all you music lovers out there could raise an incredible £1,400 for the charity.

We want to say a massive thank you to all of you who came to support Reach Out To The Community. We’ve been inundated with photos of happy customers with their great purchases of funky beats. It brings great satisfaction that our small charity shop gained so much interest over our soft opening, in readiness for our official re-opening next week.

Another massive thank you goes to the man himself, Mr Scruff! Not only has he donated hundreds of records in the past (which you’d have found in our shop for £2 each), he also raised over £3,000 from his New Years Eve party at the famous Band On The Wall in 2019. 50% of all ticket sales were donated to Reach Out. It doesn’t stop there, although the music industry has also taken a huge hit during the pandemic, Mr Scruff is still spreading the love and expanding our profile to more devoted fans by donating £5 from each t-shirt sale from his online shop. https://www.mrscruff.com/shop

Mr Scruff t- shirts available online £10 each

Next week (w/c 6 July 2020), you will hopefully see us reopen the shop where we will have more records available as well as our notorious £1 rails and other incredible bargains. Our Ebay shop and Facebook page will continue to sell our shop wares and interesting finds, please follow the links below to browse further…

We will be delighted to get back to business again next week, but please remember: we are a small shop, so please respect our staff and other customers as we organise social distancing for the foreseeable. Unfortunately due to the lack of space and storage, we will not be taking any clothing donations at this moment in time, however we will always appreciate any kind of food donation as we are continuing with our food bank distribution for over 100 people in the South Manchester/ Trafford area.
