For those who are not familiar with the Reach Out To The Community Charity Shop located in the heart of Chorlton, our doors are always open for a browse and a chat about our local projects with one of our friendly staff members or volunteers. We are ever so grateful for the influx of donations we usually receive full of quirky gems from branded clothing, unique brik-a-brac, collectable toys, books, DVDS and much more. Since COVID-19 became a national pandemic we quickly saw all of our favourite shops, bars, restaurants close down for the foreseeable future, the Reach Out team have been working behind the scenes to innovatively promote other ways of raising revenue for the Charity.
Despite the fact that we are currently only taking cash and food donations to feed and shelter homeless people during and after the lockdown, it still hasn’t stopped the staff at Reach Out To The Community expanding onto the internet in the hopes of spreading our message and gaining new followers from further afield.
Reach Out Ebay
We’ve been selling items on Ebay since 2017, but the majority of our recognition is through our local audience and supporters. However, since lockdown we are aware that people have been shopping online to tame the urge of wanting to have a rummage around their local charity shop. All that’s on hold for the time being, meaning you can’t spend an hour routing through the vinyl to find some hidden bangers to take home and enjoy. Nevertheless, we have a great selection of brand new designer clothes, shoes, toys, book collections and much more.
Reach Out Charity Shop Facebook
Even with our shop being closed since the end of March our staff have been working endlessly working in partnership with other homeless charities and food banks around Manchester. Our online Facebook charity page has been set up to promote some of our favourite shop wares and most apt items from the shop to keep you occupied during lockdown. Although this has been a small approach to driving revenue for our shop, this has been our main source of income not only to help the homeless but to also continue to pay our great team of staff who continue to help grow the charity and become more recognised for our efforts on the front line and behind the scenes. The Reach Out To The Community charity shop page is full of a variety of goodies from clothing to lockdown entertainment.
Whilst our staff are preparing for the shop to reopen, it will still be some time until we are open for business as usual. Until then, keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more updates on our shop bargains you can purchase via our PayPal link.
If you live locally to the Chorlton area, Chorlton Bike Deliveries are now in partnership with Reach Out To The Community and can deliver any purchased goods within a three-mile radius if items are more than £6, furthermore they can also collect any food donations you may have for our food bank. Other options include 2nd class postage or collection from the shop Monday – Friday 10am- 6pm.
We will always be extremely grateful for any cash donation contributions and why not grab a bargain at the same time! Additionally we’d love it if you could share our wares with your Facebook friends and family (or perhaps you could even treat them).
For more updates on what the Reach Out team are doing and when we will have further information about the shop reopening, keep an eye out on our Facebook page.
In the meantime, enjoy online shopping! We all cannot wait to see our happy customers again in the near future.
